Product Description And Additional Pictures

We have a lovely antique French porcelain chocolate pot produced by the Coiffe Factory sometime between 1891 – 1914 (see our photograph of the star mark – or ‘Mark 3’ -- on the underside of the pot). This antique French porcelain chocolate pot measures 10-3/8" in height from the base to the top of the finial. At the widest point on the antique French porcelain chocolate pot the circumference is approximately 16-3/4". The background of this lovely antique French porcelain chocolate pot has been painted in soft tones that range from cream to peach to pastel blue, and the foreground has been painted with a lovely design of red currants and leaves that are just beginning to show fall coloration. The overall satin finish of the antique French porcelain chocolate pot is complemented by generous gilding on the handle, the top rim, and the finial.

There is one small flaw on this antique French porcelain chocolate pot that bears mention: there is a very small chip on the underside of the spout that has been repaired with an additional gold overglaze. The chip is not a prominent one, and is, quite frankly, one that we did not notice until our third inspection of the piece. (Please view the final picture below to see the chip.) Aside from a few small glaze pops, there are no other flaws on this antique French porcelain chocolate pot that we were able to find after a number of close inspections.

There are two maker's marks on the underside of the antique French porcelain chocolate pot. The first mark is the Coiffe Factory mark that we have already discussed. The second mark is that of the firm of Blakeman & Henderson, a decorating company that commissioned high quality porcelain, including dinnerware, from the Limoges region of France in the late 1890s to early 1900s. Thus, our dating of this antique French porcelain chocolate pot from 1891 to 1914 is consistent with what we know of the Blakeman & Henderson decorating studio.

Please review our photographs of this lovely antique French porcelain chocolate pot. We think you will agree that it deserves pride of place in an antique porcelain chocolate pot or antique French Limoges porcelain collection!
