Product Description And Additional Pictures

This beautiful Nippon Era 19th Century Antique Porcelain Flow Blue Geisha Chocolate Pot Set comes with a lidded chocolate pot and four saucers with matching eggshell-thin cups (see picture of cup held up to light). Flow blue and gold outline the pot, saucers and the cups. The pot, saucers and cups all depict women at tea in a garden setting. The handpainting of the geisha figures, the tea houses and the landscape is expertly done. Although this tea set is unmarked -- a not uncommon occurrence for Nippon-era porcelain -- the shape of the items in this set and the subject matter painted are typical of late 19th to early 20th century Nippon items. The chocolate pot does have a star shaped mark in bas-relief on its base, but this star shape is not a manufacturer's mark, per se. The star shape is actually a firing support for the base -- a common technique for the period - so as to avoid sagging and deformation of the porcelain item during the firing process.

This Nippon Era 19th Century Antique Porcelain Flow Blue Geisha Chocolate Pot Setis in perfect condition, free of nicks, chips or cracks. This set would make a stunning display on its own, or would be an excellent addition to a collection of Nippon ware or chocolate sets.
