Nippon Flying Geese Sugar Bowl - SOLD
Product Description And Additional Pictures
We have a lovely and unusual Nippon sugar bowl with lid intact, circa late 19th - early 20th century. This beautiful piece is handpainted and depicts geese in flight, rising from the reeds, all against a light aqua matte background. There is opulent gold slip trail augmenting the reeds, as well as gold on the handles and rims of both the bowl and the lid. As a final touch, the artist who produced this lovely piece added gold and jewel-tone beading on the rims of the lid and bowl. This piece is in very fine condition, and is free of nicks, chips and other signs of hard use. There is a minimal amount of gold loss on the handles of the sugar bowl and lid, all commensurate with the age of the piece. This item would love to hold sugar or sugar packets for your daily use, or, if you prefered, would gladly grace your curio cabinet!
