Jean Pouyat Limoges Cider Pitcher With Roses - SOLD
Product Description And Additional Pictures
Examine this exquisite cider pitcher and you will understand why the Jean Pouyat Studio in Limoges, France was renowned for its artistry and unparalleled quality. This vintage cider pitcher stands 5 1/4 inches tall from the base to the highest point on the spout, and measures 6 1/2 inches at its widest point, from spout to handle. This pitcher features a lushly opulent garden of glorious summer roses, with a background that starts in the green depths of the garden and reaches toward the blue sky. With gold embellishments on the handle and along the rim of the pitcher, this piece is nearly as perfect as it can be. To be totally accurate in our disclosures, there is very minor gold loss on the handle, and a small pre-firing pock mark on the back that has been covered with paint and glaze. Signed by Leony, this pitcher bears the green 'JPL France' backstamp that was used from 1891 to 1932. Vive le France!
