Product Description And Additional Pictures

We have a set of 12 gorgeous 8-6/8" diameter medallion plates produced and decorated by the Jean Pouyat Limoges studio. These plates have a gilded band around the rim approximately 1" thick, and a striking gold medallion set against the pure white of the plate's center. There are two Pouyat underglaze marks on the backs of all the plates, indicating that the set of 12 was both made and decorated by the Pouyat studios. Both marks were used between 1891 and 1932. The third mark on the back of the plates is for Alex Anderson and Son, Inc., a store in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota that featured fine china, crystal, antiques, linens, furniture, silver, lamps, and gift items. Based on the overglaze mark, it appears that Anderson and Son were the designated retailers for this lovely set.

Every plate in this set of 12 is in perfect vintage condition with no chips, nicks cracks, crazing or discoloration. A few light utensil marks can be detected on the surface of these plates, but overall, this set was very sparingly used. Please view our photographs to see how well the gilt rims are preserved and the excellent condition of these plates.

The classic style of these medallion plates makes them a versatile pairing with many different styles of dinner plates. See our TableScape section to see how these plates may be used as one component of a stylish and eclectic table setting!

Our shipping costs on this set of dishes will be $30.00. If this seems a tad high, please understand that in most instances, we will actually pay more to ship your items than we are actually charging! In addition, we will often send sets of dishes in multiple boxes because we pack them very carefully, to ensure that they reach you in the condition that they were in when they left our care. We often joke with each other that we could probably stick a stamp and a mailing address on our bubble-wrapped items, and dispense entirely with the box. That is because we use a large quantity of bubble wrap and other packing materials to protect the items that you buy. So please understand that the shipping we charge you reflects only a portion of our actual cost!
