J Pouyat Limoges Chocolate Pot with Gold Tree Branch Handle - SOLD

J Pouyat Limoges Chocolate Pot with Gold Tree Branch Handle - SOLD
We have a lovely Jean Pouyat Limoges chocolate pot adorned with delicate pink apple blossoms against a soft background changing from a base of dark green to a very soft, light sky blue. This chocolate pot bears the green porcelain mark P75a (see picture), which was in use between 1891 and 1922. This pot has an ethereal quality to it, as if it were a phenomenon that appeared briefly in the late afternoon sky, only to fade away into the dusk. The entire pot is handpainted, with no transfer work to be seen. The artwork is preserved under the glaze and shows no crackling or staining. The potís gold handle is representative of a tree branch (see picture). The entire effect of the artwork on this pot is stunning! Best of all, the pot is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, stains or rough spots. The pot is quite tall, standing 11 Ĺ inches from base to the top of the finial. The diameter of the base is 4 Ĺ inches. As indicated previously, the pot is marked with the green JPL backstamp, and bears the artistís overglaze signature: 'M. Torgesen' in gold. This chocolate pot would be an excellent acquisition for a J Pouyat collector. It would also be a wonderful purchase for someone who simply loves beautiful things, and who can appreciate the manual effort, sheer time and artistry that was required to create an object of such loveliness.
