We are offering eight (8) opulently gilded LS&S Limoges antique porcelain medallion side plates with white backgrounds that date back to the late 19th or very early 20th century. Measuring 7" in diameter, these striking antique porcelain plates have fluted rims with a lovely molded filigree pattern on the outer edge of the rim. The outer rim of the side plate consists of a broad, gilded band that extends from the edge a full 1" into the plate, ending in a feathered gold edge. A gold center medallion completes the design of these elegant LS&S Limoges plates.
This Set of 8 LS&S Limoges Antique Porcelain Opulent Gold Medallion Side Plates is in very good condition, given that they are at least 100 years old. There are some very small areas of light rubbing on the molded filigree pattern, and minor wear to the medallions. There is one small, flat flake that has come off the back of one of the plates near the rim, but it cannot be seen from the front, and it does not affect the stability of the plate. There are no cracks, chips, nicks, crackling or stains on any of these plates. Please examine our photographs carefully for they provide an excellent representation of the condition of these plates. We have also photographed these gorgeous antique plates in a place setting to highlight how well they display! Rest assured that any large white spots you might detect on their gilded areas is just the light reflecting off the plates.
Two maker's marks on the backs of these LS&S Limoges Antique Porcelain Opulent Gold Medallion Side Plates provide date and manufacturing information: the green seven-point star is the mark of Coiffe Limoges, France, the factory that made the plates as porcelain blanks. This particular mark was used from 1891 to 1914, meaning that these plates are at least 100 years old. The round mark (red on some of the plates, and green on others) is the mark used by import company L. Strauss & Sons from 1891 to 1917. It is highly unusual to find 8 such opulently decorated antique porcelain side plates in such good condition. Rest assured that you cannot go wrong wih a gold and white color pallette - it goes with everything!
