The Antiquarians are offering two graceful, identical Lenox swan bowls made from the famously translucent porcelain that is Lenox's hallmark. These lovely swans are floating on water, their long necks curved into an elegant 'S' and their wings set back to form a generously sized bowl. They measure 8-1/2" in length, 6-1/4" at the widest point of the bowl, and are 6-1/4" in height. They are in perfect condition, with no chips or cracks, and they each bear the old blue Lenox backstamp that was used from 1930 to 1953. We are selling them as a pair because that is how we like to use our swans! We have found that two swans -- whether filled with flowers at either end of the table, or on a buffet holding nuts and candy -- are much more dramatic and impactful than one. Please inspect our photographs: we chose to use a black background and overhead lighting to emphasize the graceful lines of these swans and to highlight the translucency of the porcelain from which they are made.
Brief history: Lenox first started making swan dishes in the early 1920ís. At that time, Lenox produced small swans as individual salts, and a larger swan as a master salt. We have heard from more than one source that Brides-To-Be who registered their Lenox china pattern with an exclusive Retailer, and who were lucky enough to have full place settings purchased as gifts would receive a complementary swan salt and pepperette for each place setting purchased. We will be featuring some swan salts in the very near future, but for now, please enjoy the elegance of our large swan bowls! They want to be on your table!
Regarding shipping: Due to the delicate structure of these pieces, they will be double boxed, which will somewhat increase shipping costs. However, we think you will be very pleased when these lovely creatures arrive intact and unbroken, ready to grace your table!
