Product Description And Additional Pictures
This adorable pair of Vintage Ceramic California Potteries Mid-Century Lime Green Pixie Figurines - One Kippie, One Unmarked - is sure to delight!
The larger vintage ceramic pixie figurine in our offering is a Kippie pixie, which was manufactured in the 1950s by Kipp Ceramics in Pasadena, California, who produced art ware in addition to figurines. Helen B Kipp secured a patent in 1950 for this distinctive and popular pixie design. While the body of the vintage lime green ceramic pixie is finished with a shiny glaze over lime green paint, its face is a matte finish with a large impish smile and exaggerated eyelashes and eyebrows. All vintage ceramic Kippie pixies have feathers in their hats and flattened hands. In repose, this pixie measures approximately 4-3/4 long by 1-3/8 tall by 1-3/4 wide. The original tag is intact on the fully glazed bottom of the vintage ceramic pixie, and reads Kippie PASADENA, CALIF. Pat 61569. It is also embossed with PAT61569.
The smaller lime green vintage ceramic pixie is unmarked. Holding the ends of his boots with his hands, his brown glazed face sports an impish smile. His hat tilts in the same direction as his head. It measures approximately 2-1/2 wide by 2-1/4 tall by 1-3/4 deep.
This pair of Vintage Ceramic California Potteries Mid-Century Lime Green Pixie Figurines - One Kippie, One Unmarked is in excellent vintage condtion, with no chips or cracks. The larger pixie has some light crazing - mostly on the glaze on the bottom of the figurine - commensurate with its age.
